A former commodities journalist for Dow Jones Newswires, she uses her passion for the industry combined with her far-reaching contact base to develop, partner, and secure funding for sugar and ethanol projects that are both economically sustainable and developmentally beneficial. 

Paula Gruendling (project manager Brazil) is a former sugar futures broker for Sucden UK, Calyon and Fortis Bank, and is a Brazilian sugar specialist. A Porto Alegre native, she uses her deep knowledge of the Brazilian sugar and ethanol industries to bring new technology, know-how and investment to the African market. Her experience within the Brazilian banking sector along with her proven project management skills provide a unique dimension to the firm. 

Peter Ngugi (partner) is a native of Nairobi, Kenya with more than 15 years of experience in Kenya's domestic market and neighbouring countries. As an entrepreneur himself, he has established a reputation for due diligence and power brokering within the region and is a key player in the Kenyan sugar industry.

Pierre-Alain Puippe (partner) has been a sugar and ethanol broker for major companies such as Brazil's Coimex Trading (Suisse) and Fair Energy SA for more than 20 years. With global contacts in the industry and a history for creative trading solutions, including the first export of Chinese ethanol into the US market, he is a cornerstone of HG Consulting.
